About FCPA Dr Eric Sambu, CPP

Eric is an expert in corporate governance with senior leadership experience of over 25 years in Eastern Africa. He is multiskilled, being an accountant, a lawyer, a tax expert, a risk management expert, a security professional, governance expert and renowned leader, motivational speaker and author.

He is a Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) holder, Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K), Chartered Governance Professional (CGI-UK), Certified ISO 31000 Senior Lead Risk Manager, Certified ISO Lead Implementer, ISO Lead Auditor and a Certified ISO Trainer in many standards – 18788, 9001, 14001 and 45001. He has also been trained as Certified Artificial Intelligence Professional (CAIP) by PECB in Dubai.

In security industry, Eric is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), a certification termed the ‘gold standard’ in the industry. He is the first such holder based in Tanzania. He has just completed the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) certification from ASIS.

Eric holds Bachelor of Laws, Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Revenue Law and Administration, Master of Arts in Governance and Leadership, Doctor of Business Administration specializing in AI and PhD in Management from the University of Dar es Salaam, specializing in governance. He has attended several certification courses.

Receiving the "CEO of the Year" Award from the Prime Minister

Recognized with the Award of Service Excellence

Eric has won many accolades, including CEO of the year award (2021 to 2025 consecutively) in Tanzania and an award of commendation from ICPAK in 2020 for his contribution to the accountancy profession. Eric was conferred with Fellowship by ICPAK in October 2025. He had also received the award of commendation from the ICPSK for his contribution to the governance profession in 2025. Eric received an outstanding CEO award by the CEO Round Table of Tanzania in 2024 for demonstration passion and supporting the activities of the CEOrt, including volunteering and mentorship of CEO apprenticeship Program candidates. Eric is also the awardee of the Gold Medal, for outstanding leadership in private security industry, in an event organized by youth under the International Peace and Security Awards, 2025.

Eric is a distinguished facilitator and sought-after advisor in many international workshops and seminars. He specializes in providing expert advisory on corporate governance, board maters, directorship, board secretarial practices, taxation, and holistic risk management. His expertise extends to emerging fields such as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and reporting, information/cybersecurity, and climate change.

He is a certified expert in implementing ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001, 18788) and provides strategic leadership development for senior executives. A prolific author, he writes articles for global newspapers and magazines on these topics, has published nine research papers in renowned journals, and authored over 24 books.

Eric is the Managing Director of SGA Security Tanzania, the oldest and largest security company in Tanzania, employing over 5,000 employees, that recently won several awards –The Most Trusted and Equipped Security Services Provider in Eastern Africa by Consumer Choice Awards Africa and the Most Compliant Large Taxpayer in the tax region, Overall top position, by TRA, First place in Local Content Performance by the Ministry of Minerals and the Best Employer Award in Zanzibar. SGA was also recently awarded by Tanzania Union of Private Security Employees (TUPSE) together with TUCTA as the Best Employer in 2022-23. In 2025, SGA won key awards, including Best Brand Award (By Africa Best Brands), Leading Security Services Provider (by IPSA), Africa Company of the Year – Private Security Sector (ACOYA) and Platinum Award (by East Africa Quality Awards). SGA also has four ISO certifications (ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, 45001:2018, and 18788:2015). SGA is also ICoCA certified.

Board Service

Eric serves in the management board of the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE), having been Committee. He is also a board member of the Tanzania Security Industry Association.
